LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Parks and Recreation) The City of La Grande and the La Grande Arts Commission are excited to announce the completion of the public art mural reflecting the theme, “Honoring the Past; Celebrating the Present; Embracing the Future.” The public reveal is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th at 3:00pm in front of Cook Memorial Library at the corner of 4th and Adams. The public is welcome to attend to meet the artist, ask questions, and learn the story behind the piece.
“Artist Jason Hogge created an enduring masterpiece that can be viewed from several different angles to make the work come alive,” said Stu Spence, Parks & Recreation Director and liaison to the City from the La Grande Arts Commission. “There are four perspectives, each with their own story to tell. During the installation and painting, the artist incorporated local stories and faces into the artwork that makes this a truly unique piece for all to enjoy.”
This project was sponsored and coordinated by the La Grande Arts Commission with the support of the Parks & Recreation Department, City Council, Wildhorse Foundation, Roundhouse Foundation, Dale and Ginny Mammen, Miller Foundation, and the Union County Cultural Coalition.
