LA GRANDE – At around 10:22 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, the Oregon State Police responded to a report of a vehicle behaving erratically near La Grande along I-84. Reports included the vehicle (listed as a Chevrolet Silverado) swerving all over the road, taking exits, stopping at random, and almost hitting other vehicles.
OSP eventually located the vehicle in a ditch, with the driver passed out at the wheel, near the Milepost 256 eastbound exit. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. A description of the investigation and arrest, as provided by OSP in a recent press log, is as follows:
“The Oregon State Police received a driving complaint of a vehicle swerving all over the road, taking exits, stopping in the lane of travel, and almost hitting other drivers. Troopers located the vehicle in a ditch at the 256 eastbound exit on I 84, and the driver was passed out in the driver’s seat. After observing the driver and performing Standard Field Sobriety Tests the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Driver was booked in the Union County Corrections Facility. Vehicle was towed by Wagon Tire Towing.”
The driver was identified as 43-year-old Benjamin Allen Henry of La Grande.
