LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Police) On Friday, October 27, 2023 at 9:18PM, Michael Reding (45) of La Grande called 911 to report Dan Seulean (49) of La Grande had just tried to shoot him and Shawntell Seulean (40) of La Grande while they were walking their bicycles from Grand Woods apartments to 12th Street in La Grande. Michael Reding said Dan Seulean was driving a grey van styled vehicle when he shot at them.
La Grande Police Department officers immediately started looking for Dan Seulean and located him on First Street near D Avenue in La Grande. Dan Seulean was operating a 2006 Grey Honda Odyssey, which matched the description of the suspect vehicle given by Michael Reding. La Grande Police Department Officers conducted a traffic stop on Dan Seulean and detained him without incident.
La Grande Police Department officers with the assistance of the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police conducted several interviews, processed the scene and seized several items of evidentiary value, including Dan Seulean’s vehicle. During the initial investigation, officers learned Dan Seulean shot at least five times at Michael Reding and Shawntell Seulean with a .22 caliber handgun. Officers were also able to verify no one was injured during this incident. Although all three persons involved know each other, investigators are actively working on determining a motive for the shooting.
Dan Seulean was arrested for Attempted Assault I X 2, Menacing X 2, Reckless Endangering Another Person X 2, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Weapon. He was booked into the Union County Jail without incident.
