La Grande man arrested for assault and trying to fight police

LA GRANDE — A 19-year-old La Grande man is lodged in Union County jail and facing multiple charges after a domestic disturbance incident.

La Grande Police were called to a home on 2nd street near La Grande High on Saturday night.

According to the caller, Joseph Angel Porras was being destructive and exhibiting disturbing behaviors.  

Officers immediately responded and learned Porras had punched the caller in the face, causing an injury.  The caller declined any medical attention. 

Investigating officers also learned Porras had intentionally kicked in a bedroom door during the assault, causing damage to the door and door frame.  The officers arrested Porras and he resisted arrest by flailing and trying to fight the officers.  

He was taken into custody without injury or further incident and lodged into the Union County Jail. He now faces a slew of charges, including Assault IV-Domestic, Burglary I, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
