LA GRANDE – La Grande High School boys swimming coach Cheyenne Maszk has officially been named the 2024-2025 Section 8 Boys Swimming and diving coach of the year by the National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS). In a social media announcement for the achievement, the district wrote:

It is our privilege to announce that on behalf of the NFHS Coaches Association, our very own LHS swim team head coach, Cheyenne Maszk, has been selected to receive the 2024-2025 section 8 Boys Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year award.

This award denotes her status among the most elite coaches in her section, and as state coach of the year for her sport. She was specifically nominated by the Oregon School Activities Association to receive this award and was confirmed as the most deserving recipient by the NFHS Coaches Association Advisory Committee. Honorees were selected based on their performance in the 2024-2025 school year, lifetime community involvement, school involvement, and philosophy of coaching.

We are grateful for her commitment to the Tiger Swim Program!

In a brief interview, Maszk, who was nominated for the award for the first time in October 2025, told Elkhorn Media Group, “It’s amazing. I really love kids, and I really love the job. To be honored in that way feels really amazing.”

Maszk would like to thank her student athletes, her husband, and her assistant coach Keegan Dutto for everything they’ve done. Maszk thanked Dutto in particular for his hard work, and his knack for thinking differently, making the two coaches a great team.
