La Grande Helicopter Responds to Hat Rock Fire Near Umatilla

LA GRANDE & UMATILLA – Just before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, the Umatilla County Fire District #1 responded to a large, fast moving brush fire on Highway 730, between mileposts 194 and 190.5, nine miles east of Umatilla near Hat Rock. In addition to crews from Echo, Irrigon and Boardman, the Oregon State Fire Marshal also requisitioned a K-MAX helicopter out of La Grande to assist in containment.
