La Grande Girls come in second place at OSAA State Swimming Championship

LA GRANDE – The 2026 OSAA State Swimming Championships were hosted in Beaverton last Friday. Going above and beyond to represent Eastern Oregon, The La Grande High School girls swimming team came in second place in the 1A/2A/3A/4A bracket, earning themselves a silver trophy with a final team score of 35. Congratulations to: 

  • Hannah Zamora (Senior)
  • Parker Baum (Sophomore)
  • Jane Zastrow (Junior)
  • Isabel Fenley (Freshman)
  • Rinnah Lynch (Junior)
  • Aspen Roe (Freshmen)

The gold trophy for the 1A/2A/3A/4A girls bracket ended up going to Newport with a final score of 45, while La Grande still beat out the Valley Catholic’s bronze score of 32. 

Note that the La Grande girls weren’t the only youth athletes from Union County participating. The Cove girls’ team, Iliza Pettit (Sophomore) Becca Koza (Senior), Kenzy Spence (Junior), Amelia Koza (Freshman), Sofia Garcia (Junior) also participated, ranking 11th by the end of the tournament, while two La Grande boys, Ephraim Moyal (Junior) and Dominic Wheeler (Freshman) also performed well individually.
