LA GRANDE – The 2023 La Grande Festival of Trees came and went, setting a milestone. Hosted by Soroptimist International of La Grande, the annual community fundraiser was able to pull in no less than $45,250 dollars toward healthcare scholarships this year according to board member Shayla Rollins. In addition, the festival raised $13,700 in general scholarships. While the total amount raised hasn’t been publicly released, Rollins did note that Soroptimist brought in more money this year to be used for community grants than last year.
The festival attendees also showed their love of trees in full as demonstrated by one particular auction item. According to Rollins, a singular tree, decorated with the help of Paul Swigert Country Financial, and the Other Guys Auto Sales, managed to sell for a massive $11,250 dollars to Island City Market and Deli.
Soroptimist will have more information on the healthcare scholarships in the coming weeks.
