La Grande ESOL Teacher Receives Crystal Apple Legacy Award

LA GRANDE – (Release from the La Grande School District) At the Crystal Apple Awards event on May 8th, in addition to the Crystal Apples that La Grande School District presented, the district also honored a teacher with a 2023 Legacy Award. The recipient was Zanah Larson.

The Legacy Awards are intended to honor employees who have served for many years in one school district. They celebrate the dedication and contributions these individuals have made to district operations and to student success.

Larson is the K-5 ESOL (English as a Second Language) Teacher for La Grande School District and has worked for the district for eight years. She works with the growing population of students whose home language is one of the 13 different languages now represented in the district. Larson also trains and mentors staff and supports audits and adult education opportunities within the district.

According to her nomination for the award, “Zanah does fantastic work to support the students locally and strongly advocates for their needs in the community and state, and she does so tirelessly and tremendously!”
