La Grande City Council Announces City Manager Transition

LA GRANDE — (Press release from the City of La Grande) At a special session on October 29, 2026, the La Grande City Council voted to end the City’s employment agreement with City Manager John H. O’Brien, effective October 29, 2026.

The Council acted under the City Charter, which provides that the City Manager serves at the pleasure of the Council, and under the terms of Mr. O’Brien’s employment agreement.

The Council thanks Mr. O’Brien for his service to the City of La Grande and wishes him well. City services and operations will continue without interruption. At its November 4, 2026 regular session, the Council will begin the process of recruiting a new City Manager and appoint a Manager Pro-Tem.
