BAKER & UNION COUNTIES — The La Grande and Baker School Districts have announced changes to their Summer Lunch Programs in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
In La Grande, there will be no lunch service on Thursday, July 4, or Friday, July 5. Additionally, the Pioneer Park site will be closed on Wednesday, July 3. All sites will resume normal operations on Monday, July 8.
To accommodate the closures, La Grande will distribute meal bags at Central Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, and Island City Elementary on Wednesday, July 3. These bags will include breakfast and lunch meals for July 3, 4, and 5, and will feature half gallons of both chocolate and white milk. Families are encouraged to bring boxes, bags, wagons, or carts to transport the meals home. The program runs from June 17 through August 16, with lunch and breakfast served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
