KENNEWICK – Detectives investigating a report of a truck carrying people who were shooting BB guns that struck six children and two adults in the area of West Fourth Avenue and South Vancouver Street Tuesday afternoons have taken three males into custody.
Sgt. Jose Santoy reports the investigation led detectives to obtain a search warrant for a residence in the 1600 block of West First Avenue on Wednesday. They arrested Dweight Watkins. A 17-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy. Watkins is charged with third-degree felony assault. The two juveniles were booked into the Benton/Franklin Juvenile Detention Center for the same crime.
During the search warrant service, the weapons alleged to have been used in the incident were recovered as evidence. The investigation continues and additional charges could be added.
Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Kennewick Police Department and refer to case number 16976. “KPD would like to thank the community in their response that led to a peaceful resolution in this case,” Santoy wrote in his report.
