UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners has approved a contract with Kittelson and Associates of Portland to create the county’s transportation development plan. Chairman John Shafer said that Kittelson’s familiarity with the area is the reason it got the contract.

“They recently provided transportation and transit planning for the city of Pendleton, and they’re currently providing updates for the CTUIR’s transportation system plan as well,” he said. “The firm most recently completed the Hermiston to Boardman connector plan, which was a combined effort among Umatilla County, Morrow County, and CTUIR.”

Shafer said the plan will analyze transportation needs, routes, and scheduling.

“Overall, it’s going to be a guiding document for transportation and transit development for county residents for the next 20 years,” he said.
