WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla County Commissioner has been named as chair for the board starting in 2026, with Commissioner Bertha Clayton being voted in as the vice-chair.

“This is per-norm,” remarked Kimball who served as vice-chair for the past two years. “Really does take two years to get your feet under you to figure out how we do all these things, not as easy as it looks sometimes.”

Clayton did inquire as to whether assigned departments and committees would stay the same. Current Board Chair Gunner Fulmer said the oncoming chair reviews those before bringing them back to the board for discussion but says typically they remain the same.

“I would recommend some continuity,” remarked Clayton. “I would like to keep the momentum going.”

Kimball is in his third term as commissioner, first being elected in 2016. Clayton was elected to her first term as a commissioner last year.
