(Statement from Baker County DA Greg Baxter)
“Around 4A.M. on May 1, 2026, law enforcement responded to a medical call on Court St. in Baker City. The call quickly turned into a criminal investigation. Law enforcement determined that a suspect had fired shots inside a family member’s home. Surveillance footage was obtained from neighbors which led law enforcement to the suspect’s home on Campbell St. The Eastern Oregon SWAT team was called and an arrest was made around 10A.M. The suspect is currently in the Baker County Jail on a number of felony and misdemeanor charges. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.
I’d like to thank law enforcement in Baker County and Union County who swiftly responded to help out this morning.
The suspect’s arraignment will occur on Monday afternoon. If anyone has any further information about this investigation, then please contact Detective Andrew Martin and Detective Mason Powell at the Baker City Police Department.”
Personnel with the Baker City Police Department, Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and Eastern Oregon SWAT all responded to the scene.
Scott Lee Kenney remained lodged in jail at the time this publication was written on May 4th, 2026.
