Kennewick cop shop gets a new name

KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department will host today (Thursday) a building dedication and open house to celebrate Chief Ken Hohenberg’s more than 43 years of dedicated service to the community. A sign has been added to the police station at 211 West Sixth Avenue bearing the name Kenneth A. Hohenberg Public Service Building.

The building dedication starts at 1:30 p.m. with the open house to follow from 2-4 p.m. Hohenberg will also be making his final radio call to dispatch following the building dedication. He began his service to the Kennewick community on July 17, 1978, and was appointed police chief in 2003.

Assistant Chief Chris Guerrero will be sworn-in as police chief during a ceremony before the Kennewick City Council on March 1 at 6:30 p.m. Guerrero began his career with the Kennewick Police Department in 1996 and has served in multiple positions.

In 2015, he was promoted to the rank of commander. As a division commander, he has supervised the Investigations and Patrol divisions. He was also assigned as the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team commander and incident commander. In July of 2021, Guerrero was promoted to the position of assistant chief.
