KEATING — Students at Keating Elementary School got an important lesson recently regarding safe outdoor burning and how to use certain firefighting equipment—a lesson that most of our newsroom agrees could be valuable for many local adults who have been responsible for escaped burns. Keating Rural Fire Chief Buzz Harper led a hands-on science lesson on March 19th.

Keating Elementary reports, “The students learned how to run the water pump, the nozzle, and wetting the bark chips. The students enjoyed their time helping Chief Harper as well as learning so much. Thank you Chief Harper for spending your afternoon with us!”
