MISSION – Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Director of Communications Matt Johnson reports that Kayak Transit is getting ready to spread its wings. The free-to-ride bus company is going to offer a route to Boardman and the Port of Morrow.

“That will provide another safe and reliable transportation option to one of the big regional employment centers out there,” Johnson said.

Kayak is partnering with both Morrow and Umatilla counties for the project, which is in the beginning stages.

“Routes, schedules, and potential bus stop locations are still being determined,” Johnson said. “This is going to be a permanent route with funding provided from the Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund.”

Kayak already provides free transportation in 17 communities over four counties in northeast Oregon and southeast Washington.
