WALLULA – Tiger Cool Express, a Kansas-based company, has signed a lease/purchase agreement to acquire the former Cold Connect warehouse in Wallula from the Union Pacific Railroad. Plans include developing an intermodal logistic center it says will benefit the agricultural and manufacturing communities.
Initially, service is intended to be offered between Wallula and the Northwest Seaport Alliance on-dock facilities for dry imports and exports, as well as transporting refrigerated domestic containers between Wallula and Chicago. Service is expected to expand to the I-5 corridor, Mexico and beyond.
Theodore Prince, Tiger Cool Express chief strategy officer and co-founder, said the facility’s proximity to the Tri-Cities offers land, labor, water and electricity that could make it a global logistics hub.
