JOHN DAY – Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site is open for spring break this week. Curator Don Meritt said himself along with two other volunteers are able to conduct the tours and keep the doors open. However, for their regular season beginning in just over a month, Meritt said they are in dire need of volunteers:

“In May, though, at this point we don’t have any hosts available. Or volunteers. If anyone is really interested in having something to do—even if it’s only for ten hours a week. Something very small, less time-consuming…they’re more than welcome to come and help.”

Meritt said there’s a little bit of paperwork to submit to volunteer for the state, and then they’ll get you all set up at Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site.
