LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) Thanks to his dominant performance at the CCC Preview in Talent, Oregon on Friday, September 9, Justin Ash has been named the rize Laboratory Runner of the Week. The honor is awarded to the most outstanding cross-country runner in the Cascade Collegiate Conference each week. Ash finished first in the opening race for the No. 13 Mounties.
In an EOU dominated meet, Justin Ash kicked off the 2022 cross country season with an incredible performance. Ash finished in first place with a time of 25:30.2. The sophomore from Baker City, Ore., led wire-to-wire and and finished ahead of the 43-person field by nearly 20 seconds in completing the 8,000-meter race at Clover Road Field.
“Justin ran a very impressive race against a quality field and I am very happy to see him recognized for such a quality performance ,” said Coach Ben Welch.
Ash and the Mountaineers return to action this Friday, Sept. 16, at the EOU Invitational. The men’s 6,000 meter race will begin at 5:45 p.m.
