JOSEPH — A huge congratulations is in order for Joseph Charter Schoolโs own Lauren McBurney, who has officially been named to the FCCLA National Officer Teamโa prestigious honor earned by only a select few students across the nation each year.
Lauren, now serving as one of the national leaders of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), made history as the only student from Oregon selected for this yearโs National Officer Team. She was chosen during the 2025 National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, held July 5โ9.
Laurenโs selection is a testament to her dedication, passion, and five years of hard work with FCCLA. Her journey has included serving as Oregonโs FCCLA State Vice President of Development, two terms as State President, and earning multiple national silver medals and a Top 10 national finalist spot for her Chapter Service Project.
โWhen Lauren was in 7th grade, she attended her first FCCLA National Leadership Conference. As we sat together as a Chapter watching the National Officers on the stage speaking in front of thousands of students, she turned to me and said, “That is going to be me someday!” Everyday since then, she has put in the hard work, practiced and polished her speaking, made connections, built her resume, and lead her Chapter and State FCCLA with grace, purpose and a friendly face. She has been a leader in every sense of the word. She set a goal, and went after it! I’m so honored to be a part of her journey. Her example is motivating!” -Lisa Collier, Joseph Charter FCCLA Adviser
As a National Officer, Lauren will help guide the direction of FCCLA for the 2025โ2026 school year, traveling across the country, working with students and advisers, and representing thousands of FCCLA members nationwide. She will also play a key role in leading national conferences, planning initiatives, and supporting chapters in their growth and leadership goals.
FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that focuses on developing leadership skills through Family and Consumer Sciences education. With more than 250,000 members nationwide, the organization empowers students to make a difference in their homes, schools, and communities.
Laurenโs achievement brings honor not only to Joseph Charter School, but to all of Oregon FCCLA. She serves as a reminder that young leaders from rural communities can rise to the national stage and inspire others to โDare to Dream.
