LA GRANDE – 36-year-old Joseph Charles Hansen was arrested this week after a theft on March 2nd in La Grande.
According to information provided by the La Grande Police Department, “On March 2, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a theft call at a Timber Ridge Apartments located in La Grande. The victim reported that several electronic items, including two cell phones and a tablet, were stolen. Investigation revealed that Joseph Hansen had entered the victim’s apartment with another person and taken the items before fleeing the scene. Officers had probable cause to arrest Hansen for theft, but he was not immediately located.
On March 10, 2025, at approximately 11:24 a.m., an officer located Hansen near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Albany Street. As the officer attempted to take Hansen into custody for the theft, he resisted and attempted to flee, resulting in a brief struggle. The officer was able to safely apprehend Hansen.
During the arrest, Hansen was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. As a result of the incident, Hansen was charged with Theft in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest, Escape in the Third Degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.”
At the time of this report, Hansen was housed in the Union County Jail.
