WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Police Department and Fire Departments are actively conducting a joint investigation into a suspicious wildland fire that was upgraded to a full commercial structure fire response Tuesday night.
The fire started at 7:45 p.m. in some trees and grass near North 13th Avenue and West Elm Street on the north side of U.S. 12. The fire then spread into an adjacent property belonging to Walla Walla Recycling, located on the 800 block of North 12th Avenue.
No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. Combined property and content losses are estimated at $37,000.
As part of a mutual-aid agreement, Walla Walla County Fire District Number Four and College Place Fire Department responded for assistance.
