JOHN DAY – According to a release from the City of John Day, Oregon DEQ has granted preliminary approval for the city’s permit for the new wastewater treatment plant. Recycled water from the plant will be distributed to the parks and industries through a new water distribution network that is currently in construction.
A recent social media post from The City of John Day Government states, “This beneficial reuse network will allow us to irrigate our parks and ballfields with reclaimed water, conserving freshwater in the John Day watershed for our ranchers, farmers and other downstream users. Street improvements to service the new facility are also under construction using road base created onsite from recycled concrete and dredge tailings, saving our residents thousands of dollars on the costs for these new streets.”
