John Day man arrested after stealing donated cans from scout troops

JOHN DAY – A man was caught on camera stealing cans from the BSA Scout Troops in Grant County recently. Video surveillance in the Old West Federal Credit Union parking lot, where the can donation trailer is parked, shows a man in a black t-shirt and jeans (tucked into his white socks) loading several bags of cans from the scouts’ trailer into his vehicle. This occurred at approximately 3:23 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9th.
The incident was reported to authorities, and Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley has informed our newsroom that the subject has been identified as Darron Huskey, 57, of John Day. Husky was located by GCSO, arrested, and taken into custody for Theft III.
A similar incident occurred at the same location in January of this year. That subject was later found and arrested, as well.
