John Day Elks donates 100 quilts to children’s hospital

JOHN DAY – John Day Elks Lodge Public Relations Officer Doug Cox was on KJDY’s Coffee Time explaining a unique program started by the lodge that supports children at OHSU hospital. Cox said 100 quilts were made by local citizens to be donated:

“Well, actually, they’ve made over 100, but 100 quilts are going to the Elks Children’s Hospital at OHSU. Those quilts are given to each child that’s headed home.

That program was started in John Day, Oregon years ago, and from that lodge has expanded out to a statewide level.”

Cox also mentioned that the program was successful in part thanks to the many donors that helped with materials and more.
