PENDLETON – High school students from Umatilla, Morrow, and Union counties are at the Pendleton Convention Center tomorrow (Thursday) to learn about some of the careers this region has to offer. Then, from 2-4 p.m., the doors will open for adults who are looking for employment or possible career opportunities.
“Bring your resume down,” Pendleton Chamber of Commerce Schools 2 Careers Coordinator Patti Hyatt said for the adults. “You’re looking to have some conversations and it would be great to be prepared, We’ve got over 40 employers.”
Hyatt said that she originally felt it would be good if they could get more than 30 employers, but it turned out more than 40 businesses wanted to participate in the event. There is no admission charge to the Career Connect Job Fair, and Hyatt said that both the students and the adults who come later will hear from a wide range of employers in the area.
“They are going to be talking about careers in agriculture, forestry, law enforcement, health care, construction, manufacturing, diesel tech,” she said. “The military’s going to be there. The drones. We’ve got people with the trades in there. We’ve just got a ton of people.”
