JOHN DAY – The unofficial results are in, following Oregon’s Primary Election last night. In Grant County, Jim Carpenter will remain the District Attorney. For County Commissioner Position 1, John A Rowell won the popular vote at nearly 54%.

Now, here’s where it gets sticky–as of the 1:00 p.m. hour on May 18th, the vote for the ballot measure 12-80 regarding the John Day/Canyon City Parks and Rec pool bond is tied. Initially, last night, the “No” votes had it by just a hair, but as of Wednesday the vote remains even at 787 “Yes” and 787 “No”.

No elections are decided until all the ballots are counted in Oregon and this year as long as a ballot is postmarked May 17 it’s part of the count as long as it’s received by May 24. The certified election results are not scheduled to be issued until June 7.

Grant County Clerk Brenda Percy stated that more ballots have come in the mail today, and the results will be available at results.oregon.gov as soon as the ballots are counted. Stay posted for updates.
