After thoughtful consideration, Janine Attlesperger has requested a voluntary transfer from her role as Elementary Principal to a Title I teaching position. District leadership has approved this request, which will take effect on February 13, 2026. In her new role, Ms. Attlesperger will continue to serve students in a focused, high-impact capacity aligned with her professional expertise and the districtโs instructional needs.
To ensure continuity of leadership, Jay Hummel has agreed to serve as Interim Principal of Humbolt Elementary for the remainder of the 2025โ2026 school year. Mr. Hummel brings more than 30 years of administrative experience, including prior service as Grant Unionโs Interim Principal during the 2023โ2024 school year, as well as previous roles as Superintendent and Elementary Principal in the Wallowa School District. He is known for a collaborative leadership style and a strong commitment to school culture and student success. His temporary appointment will be recommended to the Board of Directors for approval at the January 21st Board meeting.
Looking ahead, Grant School District #3 plans to post the permanent principal position this week, with a closing date in early March.
