It’s Search and Rescue Month in Oregon, are you prepared?

NORTHEAST OREGON- (Information from The Oregon Department of Emergency Management) As the weather warms up, Oregonians are eager to get outside this summer and explore. In recognition of Search and Rescue Month in Oregon, state agencies are sharing best practices to keep your outdoor adventures safe and enjoyable.

Here are some tips to #KnowBeforeYouGo:

•Look up the destination and confirm the recreation area is open: bit.ly/3ccRUjk.

•Bring clothing layers and footwear appropriate for the weather and terrain.

•Pack the proper safety equipment for your activities. Have an emergency kit with a flashlight and batteries, a first aid kit, cell phone charger, extra food and water.

•Check the weather and road conditions before you go: Tripcheck.com.

•Have a map for your destination. Share your travel plans with someone, including where you’re going and when you plan to return.
