HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council meets at 7 p.m. today in council chambers. The big item on the agenda is a public hearing and vote on the city’s budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year which begins July 1.
The Hermiston Budget Committee approved a spending plan of $109,564,064 for the year. The council will first take public input on the budget. It will then vote on whether to adopt the budget resolutions as presented, not to adopt them, or to adopt resolutions with amended totals or different parameters.
Following the meeting, the council will adjourn and meet as the Hermiston Urban Renewal Agency, take comments, and vote on approving the urban renewal budget for the new year. That spending plan includes projects in the downtown, southwest, and north urban renewal areas. The major project for the new year will be the Northeast Aspen Drive extension that is planned to facilitate commercial development in the north commercial area.
Both meetings will be streamed live on Hermiston’s YouTube channel.
