HERMISTON – Investigators from the Hermiston Police Department arrested Eric Vera, 28, of Irrigon. The investigation began with a burglary on Sept. 16 from a business on the 300 block of East Hurlburt Avenue. The suspect allegedly continued committing crimes until he was jailed Oct. 4.
Police Chief Jason Edmiston said that in the original burglary several pieces of property and blank checks were stolen. Then, on Oct. 1, a business in the 400 block of East Hurlburt Avenue was burglarized.
Police stopped a 2010 Chrysler in the 100 block of West Cherry Avenue. Vera was the driver and the vehicle check returned it as stolen out of Benton County, Washington. Edmiston said a significant amount of the property stolen in both burglaries was found inside the vehicle.
Vera is charged with several felonies including vandalism, two counts of first-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Misdemeanor charges against him include second-degree forgery and resisting arrest.
