UMATILLA – U.S. Highway 730 experienced flooding Wednesday morning after an irrigation canal breach occurred near Kurz Lane between Umatilla and Irrigon.
Umatilla County Emergency Manager Sage DeLong confirmed the breach saying water had washed out portions of Kurz Lane and that the water was crossing U.S. 730.
U.S. 730 remains open, though TripCheck.com says drivers may experience short delays.
Officials were able to shut the water source off and DeLong said conditions were stabilizing, adding that sheriff’s deputies were on scene and so far no injuries were reported.
DeLong says that several residences in that area were experiencing access issues because of the road damage. He said agencies were working to assess the impacts and coordinate response efforts to restore resident’s access and address the infrastructure damage.
