PASCO — Interim Police Chief Brent Cook has been selected to serve as the next chief of the Pasco Police Department following a nationwide search, city officials announced.
Cook, who first began his law enforcement career with the department in 1988 as a volunteer reserve officer, rose through every rank. He served as deputy chief from 2019 to 2026, managing budgets and strategic planning, and was ultimately selected from five finalists.
City Manager Harold Stewart praised Cook’s extensive experience, professionalism, and dedication, calling him an excellent choice to lead the organization. Cook said he is committed to building community partnerships that support safety, transparency, and accountability.
Cook will be officially sworn in as the permanent chief during the upcoming July 27 Pasco City Council meeting.
