BURBANK – Washington Gov. Jay Inslee has issued an emergency proclamation to support the repair of the overpass on State Route 124 that spans U.S. 12 in Burbank. On Sept. 1, the overpass was severely damaged by a vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. 12 while hauling an over-height load.

Damage to the overpass is estimated at $3.3 million and will require the replacement of one overpass girder. The Washington State Department of Transportation is coordinating resources to make repairs which will require the procurement of a contractor.

The overpass was dedicated in 2014 in honor of Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Estes who died in February 2007 in that area while responding to a crash.
