Injured snowmobilers rescued

SUMMERVILLE, OR – Over the weekend, an injury snowmobile accident was reported on the USFS 31 Road approximately 1 mile north of the area known as Ruckle Junction. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office responded along with Elgin Rural Fire Protection District, City of La Grande Fire Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Life Flight.  Â
Due to the location of the incident, Umatilla County requested Union County Sheriff‘s Office SAR respond to assist them with accessing and transporting the patient if necessary. Umatilla County personnel and good Samaritans on scene were able to transport the patient to the Life Flight helicopter (which was able to land nearby), and the patient was flown from the scene shortly after the arrival of Union County medical and SAR resources.
