Injured hunter rescued in Wheeler County

SPRAY- On Saturday, Wheeler County Deputies and Spray Ambulance were dispatched to an injured hunter near Tamarack Mountain.

From the Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office:

“…With the help of the Life Flight, ODF crews from around the region and a member of the Spray Volunteer Fire Department, the injured hunter was located and assessed in a timely manner. Due to the treacherous terrain of the incident, the Wheeler County Search & Rescue Ropes Rescue Team responded. Working in conjunction with multiple state agencies, a specialized medic rescue team of the Oregon Nation Guard was dispatched to the incident. This specialized teamed was able to safely retrieve the victim utilizing a hoisting technique and transport the victim to the waiting Spray Ambulance.

We would like to thank those members of Wheeler County SAR, Spray Volunteer Fire Department, Spray Ambulance, ODF, Life Flight, The Oregon Nation[al] Guard, Frontier Dispatch and the numerous other state agencies who assisted in the operation.

A big Thank You to Top Water Pizza Trailer for staying open late to feed those men and women who assisted today.”
