Infant among three injured in fiery I-84 crash in Pendleton; driver arrested for DUII

PENDLETON – Three people, including an infant, were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday in Pendleton that shutdown the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84.

Oregon State Police said a Dodge Durango driven by Cullen Derr, 38, of Battle Ground, Washington, was traveling eastbound while towing a custom-built utility trailer when the vehicle left the road for an unknown reason. The vehicle rolled multiple times before catching fire.

The passengers in the vehicle, a 24-year-old woman, 15-year-old male, and a nine-month-old infant, were ejected. All of the vehicles occupants were transported to a local hospital before the three passengers were transported to hospitals in Oregon and Washington for advanced medical care.

Derr was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and assault. An arraignment was scheduled for Friday afternoon.

The crash caused the closure of the eastbound lanes for just over an hour.
