WASHINGTON, District of Columbia – U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) serves on President Donald Trump’s Economic Task Force. The task force is a bipartisan group of senators and representatives working to reopen the country, and Walden said he’s proud of what’s been accomplished so far.
“You know if you look at most of what we’ve done, it’s been pretty unified,” he said. “Most of these bills have been passed nearly unanimously. The Trump administration has worked in record time to get the money out the door.”
Walden said that the government is working faster than it ever has before.
“Somebody told me the other day the Small Business Administration had processed more loans in 14 days than they had in the prior 14 years,” he said. Walden said the average loan for the paycheck protection program is $35,000, and the SBA is working to get the money in the hands of those who need it the most, small business owners.
