Inaugural Grant County ESD Safety Summit held at Grant Union

JOHN DAY – Grant County Education Service District recently held an informational event, gathering school districts and area first responders. The Grant County ESD Safety Summit brought together local educators, school district staff members, law enforcement, and more for discussions regarding emergency situations on school grounds. It was held Friday, August 22nd at Grant Union High School in John Day. A crisis communications scenario was simulated, and speakers from OSP and the Oregon School Boards Association guided those in attendance through the situation.

The Oregon State Police posted to social media, thanking summit coordinators. OSP stated, โ€œWe were proud to join educators and first responders at the inaugural Grant County ESD Safety Summit. Thank you to Grant County ESD for coordinating the summit. Your commitment to safety makes a difference.โ€

The efforts were brought forth by Property and Casualty Coverage for Education (PACE). According to their website, PACE is the largest property and liability risk pool of education organizations in Oregon, representing more than 200 public school districts, education service districts, community colleges and charter schools.
