WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department believes an improperly installed wood stove is what caused a residential structure fire on the 1000 block of West Pine Street. Firefighters were dispatched to the home at 12:15 a.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was showing, and a small fire was seen on an exterior wall where the pipe of the wood stove exits the home.
No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $250,000. Crews from Walla Walla County Fire District Number 4 and the College Place Fire Department assisted as part of a mutual-aid agreement.
