WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department has released details following Sunday afternoon’s structure fire on the 500 block of North Third Avenue.
No injuries were reported at the fire that crews were dispatched to at 3:22 p.m., but damages total $100,000.
An improperly installed and maintained wood fireplace caused the fire. Officials urge homeowners to have fireplaces inspected and cleaned annually.
Mutual aid from Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 assisted in bringing the fire under control quickly.
