Improper backing causes personal injury collision

WALLA WALLA COUNTY — Four people were injured in a two vehicle collision Saturday morning on Highway 12 at milepost 310, 26 miles west of Walla Walla.

The Washington State Patrol said Kaziputalimba E. Joshua, 62, of Walla Walla stopped in the roadway and started to backup at 10:23 a.m. That’s when another vehcile driven by Julian V. Gutierrez, 47, of Hermiston struck Joshua’s vehicle.

Joshua’s passenger, Stephen E. Hammond, 65, of Sterling, Virginia, and Guiterrez’s passenger, Francis J. Kontor, 85, of Hermiston, were transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center. No details on their condition or injuries have been released.

Troopers charged Joshua with improper backing.
