Impaired driver crashes into Dayville Post Office

On May 31, 2025, around 10 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a crash at the Dayville Post Office on US Highway 26. Thankfully, no one was in the building and no one was injured.
An SUV left the roadway, drove over a sidewalk, and crashed through the entrance ramp and deck before stopping at the front door. Witnesses reported the driver attempted to free the vehicle from the wreckage; thankfully, they convinced the driver to shut the vehicle off.
Troopers observed multiple signs of impairment, and the driver refused to perform field sobriety tests. A search warrant later revealed a BAC of .11%—more than three hours after the crash.
The driver was arrested for DUII, reckless driving, and criminal mischief II and booked into Grant County Jail.
