Imbler’s first ever track meet and ribbon cutting begin this Saturday

IMBLER โ€“ The Odyssey of the Imbler Track and Field Community Project is about to reach its conclusion. On Saturday, May 3, the Imbler School District will host its first ever official track meet on the school’s new composite material track, including a celebratory ribbon cutting!

For those unfamiliar with the story, the Imbler Track Foundation put forward a plan in July of 2023 to build a new, state of the art, composite material track for use by both students and the community, putting an end to the risk of shin splints and allowing the district to host meets. Following an unprecedentedly successful fundraising campaign (including over a million dollars raised) the district broke ground on the track in August of 2024, with students and the community having made good use of it for several months now.

After nearly two years of planning, fundraising, and construction, the track will officially be put through its paces, May 3. Hospitality tents will open at 10:00 AM, with the meet officially beginning at 11:00 AM. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 12:30 PM, with running events to follow at 1:00 PM. The FFA will serve lunch from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The track is located behind the Imbler High School Building.
