IMBLER – Oregon might be on the cusp of spring, but that doesn’t mean winter sports are wrapping up just yet. For anyone hitting the mountain slopes, the current competitive ski season is reaching an apex. One of these winter athletes is Imbler’s Kiana DeLint who, after an incredible showing at the 2025 Oregon High school Alpine Ski Racing Championships, is bound for Wyoming to compete in the Western States Championships.

Currently a senior at Imbler High School, DeLint has been skiing from a young age, coming from a whole family of ski enthusiasts. Initially learning at Anthony Lakes, she began ski racing under U.S. Ski and Snowboard at Mount Bachelor around three years ago, before recently returning to Anthony Lakes for her senior year to race as part of the local high school team.

For the current season, DeLint has been racing as part of the Imbler High School Ski Team, which itself is part of the Blue Mountain League Ski Racing Team alongside Baker, Union, and Wallowa High Schools. The Blue Mountain team recently competed in the Oregon High school Alpine Ski Racing Championships at Mt. Ashland March 6th and 7th, with DeLint finishing with a time of 01:42:17 for the Girls Giant Slalom and 01:32:3 for the Girls Slalom. Out of a roster of around 140 Oregon female skiers, this put her 7th and 9th place in the two categories respectively, with an overall championship ranking of 9th place. Reflecting on her high ranking, DeLint remarked:

“I was really surprised. I guess I was just kind of thinking this year would be more laid back. I wasn’t sure how high school racing would go for me. I didn’t really expect to do so well at state.”

Having made the top ten at state, DeLint is currently competing in The Western States High School Ski Racing Championships from March 12 – 15 in the Grand Targhee Ski Area in Wyoming. When asked what she was looking forward to most for the national competition, she remarked:

“Just getting to see all the other racers. I love meeting all the people at ski races. I’m also excited for the different kinds of coaching that I could get.”

Kiana De Lint represents the only member from the Blue Mountain High School team to participate in the Western States Championship this year. According to the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association, Teams will be training today, with the Girls competing tomorrow, boys on March 14, and both groups on March 15.
