IMBLER – It sometimes goes unspoken just how capable students are of putting in the work to provide major, tangible improvements to their schools. Case in point, the K-6 students at Imbler Elementary school recently raised $3,000 dollars all on their own to put in a brand-new drinking fountain, complete with a water bottle filling station.

According to Imbler Superintendent and Elementary Principal Randy Waite, the K-6 students have been working to fundraise for the elementary schools for several years now, primarily through bake sales and a lot of dress up days. After finally raising enough funds, the students decided they wanted a new drinking fountain in the elementary school with a bottle filling station and proper refrigeration.

According to Waite, the Elementary Student Council usually purchase improvements for the school with the funds they raise, with this latest project effectively taking every dollar they had saved up. Students are already planning additional fundraisers, however.

In the meantime, the fountain is already serving its purpose, with students generally loving it and staying more hydrated. Waite noted he’s happy to see the students plan and fundraise all by themselves and thinks it’s a good purchase, remarking, “they put some thought in what they wanted to give back to the school.”
