ROAD CLOSURE

Update as of 4:50pm- Closures along I-84, US395, ORE245 and US30 have been removed.

Update as of 4:40pm: I-84 between Baker City and La Grande as well as I-84 from Ontario to Baker has reopened. US395 MP 50 – 23 (35 miles South of Pilot Rock to the Ukiah turn off) has also reopened. Hwy 30 -Haines, has reopened.

Update from ODOT as of 3:54pm: ODOT: East. Ore.: I-84 eastbound and westbound lanes are now open between Exit 216 near Pendleton and Exit 265 near La Grande, in eastern Oregon. Crews are working to get westbound open at Baker City and Ontario. Continue to check TripCheck.com and be prepared for winter condition. For everyone’s sake, CHAIN UP when required. Commercial vehicles not chaining up in winter conditions have been primary factors for many freeway closures. Let’s all be courteous towards each other and the state, county and city crews working to keep our roads safe.

ROAD UPDATE as of 3:20pm: Crews are beginning to reopen I-84 in Eastern Oregon. Currently, it appears that I-84 between Pendleton and La Grande has reopened and eastbound from La Grande to Baker is open. ORE204 Tollgate is showing open as well. Please continue to use extreme caution if you plan on traveling.

Update as of 12:09pm ODOT: East. Ore.: U.S. 395 is closed north and south bound between OR 74 (Nye Junction, west of Pilot Rock) and OR 244 at Ukiah (in Umatilla Co.) due to multiple disabled vehicles. I-84 remains closed both eastbound and westbound between Exit 216 (6 miles east of Pendleton) and Exit 302 in Baker City due to unchained semis blocking lanes on Cabbage Hill near milepost 224 and other crashes/slide off between La Grande and Pendleton. The westbound freeway is also closed to trucks and through traffic at Exit 374 in Ontario, due to limited truck parking areas in La Grande and Baker City. This is anticipated to be a lengthy closure. OR204 (Tollgate Hwy.) and OR245 are closed to through traffic as they are not viable routes for freeway traffic. Travelers will need to wait until the freeway opens. Stay home and stay safe. Plan ahead and prepare for very long delays in case you get stuck in traffic jam, or on a route that closes due to weather/crash. Pack extra food, water, blankets and have full tank of gas. Don’t blindly follow GPS devices that may detour you onto an unmaintained roadway. Stay on main highways.

Ore.: I-84 is closed both eastbound and westbound between Exit 216 (6 miles east of Pendleton) and Exit 304 in Baker City due to unchained semis blocking lanes on Cabbage Hill near milepost 224 and other crashes/slide off between La Grande and Pendleton. The westbound freeway is also closed to trucks and through traffic at Exit 374 in Ontario, due to limited truck parking areas in La Grande and Baker City. This is anticipated to be a lengthy closure. Update as of 9:50am: I-84 is closed westbound from Ontario to Baker city to truck traffic. ORE245 (OR-245, 1 mile North of Intersection with John Day Highway US-26) is closed both northbound and southbound. (Local traffic only on OR-245, no access to I-84.)
