HUNTINGTON – (Information from the Oregon State Police) On Tuesday, July 25, at approximately 6:50 A.M., a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) carrying a large windmill section rolled over on I–84 Eastbound near milepost 339 north of Huntington. The Oregon State Police issued the following description of the incident:
“CMV hauling a section of a windmill was eastbound on I-84 negotiating a curve when the trailer overturned. The windmill section broke free and rolled downhill where it came to rest on the railroad tracks stopping trains in the area. Video from the pilot car behind the CMV recorded the crash and showed that the trailer started to overturn while on the pavement indicating a loadshift and/or equipment failure. The driver stated he was driving 55 mph through the curve and believed the trailer broke free. Unknown what affect vehicle speed played in the event. No injuries. Significant and extensive state property damage (guardrail and road surface). No damage to the Union Pacific Railroad. They used a large loader to push the windmill section off their tracks. Pilot car driver observed crash from behind vehicles.”
At the time of writing, The Oregon State Police have not provided photos of the incident.
